The Last Mahadevi of Hsipaw
On February 5, 2023, the last Mahadevi of Hsipaw (the Shan states) in Burma died. Born in Austria in 1932, as Inge Eberhard, she married the Prince of Hsipaw in 1951, and took the regnal name Sao Nang Thu Sandi (spelled Thusandi in her memoir Twilight over Burma).
