The Oxford University Pistol Club is one of the oldest sports clubs at Oxford. It's official existence as part of the university's infrastructure began in 1902, but local legend indicates that groups of students banded together to practice shooting going back to around 1767. Although the university officially offers neither sports scholarships nor admissions credit for sports participation, there are a number of student-led clubs available. One of the advantages of sports not having official standing in Oxford is that anyone can try out something new regardless of experience level (within reason; my understanding is that the Polo Club does require that one has at least ridden a horse before).
